Delivering expertise through The Met Office Informatics Lab; the Impact Lab has direct access to a dedicated group of scientists, technologists, and designers who collaborate to make environmental science and data useful - building prototypes to test new technologies and push the boundaries of science, technology and design. The Informatics Lab makes all software, designs, prototypes tools and demos freely available and is, therefore, ideally placed to help SMEs and start-ups to develop fully working prototypes on the basis of its previous and ongoing work. An additional benefit are the considerable synergies arising from the Informatics Lab’s wider research and collaborations with public bodies and large enterprises.
The Met Office also provides a base for the Impact Lab, at the ‘Met Office HPC Complex’.
