Rothamsted Research, the longest running agricultural research station in the world, exists to deliver knowledge and new practices to increase food (arable and grazing livestock) productivity and quality and to develop environmentally sustainable solutions for food and energy production.
A National Capability, Rothamsted supports Impact Lab clients to identify ways in which their data can be exploited in commercial markets.
The Impact Lab expertise from Rothamsted is based at the North Wyke Farm Platform, where research teams conduct experiments focused on addressing some of agriculture's most pressing challenges, e.g. mitigating climate change, protecting natural resources and sustaining the rural economy in grassland dominated areas.
The wider data platform - electronic Rothamsted Archive (e-RA) provides access to the results of many of the oldest, continuous agronomic experiments in the world. Together with the accompanying meteorological records, associated documentation and sample archive, it provides access to a historical record on the effects of agricultural practices on soils, crops and associated ecosystems, measured continuously for nearly 170 years.
